I recently wrote a post about an article in the Washington Post on the rising cost of diabetes medication and how being healthy could benefit both the health of your body and your finances. Not two days later another article talks about the rise in the number of diabetes cases. Both articles have a startling and equally scary reality. This rise has been 100% over the last 10 years (7 years for the rise in cost).
Here is a breakdown by state:

As someone who has diabetes those are scary numbers. They are not only scary to me, but these numbers do not bode well for our country given the state of our health care industry. The cost of diabetes care is doubling while the number of people diagnosed with diabetes is doubling. Can anybody say train wreck? So what’s the point? What can any of us do? I’m glad you asked that question. The article attributed two things to the rising cases of diabetes. Obesity and lack of exercise.
If we attempt to live healthier, we can impact these numbers. I want to challenge people to lose weight and increase their activity level. I hope you will join me. I am going to start a program to help us take better care of ourselves. Get Healthy!!!…Your Life The State of Our Country Depends On It!!!
